Physical or Sedentary ?

Nowadays, there is an increasing number of people who are becoming more sedentary. One of the most influential factors is the development of technology; for instance, computers, tablets, and cellphones. People prefer communicating via Facebook or emailing instead of visiting others. Even my parents sometimes would take their cellphones or ipads while having meals with me. This fact shows how different technology devices became a part of humans’ life. However, I am more physical than sedentary. I enjoy playing a variety of sports and appreciate other professional athletes. Also, I’m trying to affect my friends to be more physical.
I don’t think being sedentary is negative at all. Sedentary people have more time to reflect themselves, can be more concentrated on studying, and tend to be more calmed. Normally, these people are considered as knowledgeable. Nevertheless, being physical is more attractive for me as a teenager. I believe teenagers should be more active and somehow good at sports in order to become well rounded.
As an athletic person, a surprise just elated me this week. Having wanted to play for either basketball team or soccer team, I appeared on the last day of try out for the soccer team and only played for 20 minutes. Surprisingly, the next day when I wen to check the list, I was on it. Because of the experience of being physical and active, I could play all kinds of sports. As a result, I will be on the school soccer team this year. People might say that’s unfair for the other people, but I am more committed to be a more physical person by working out since 2 years ago, play sports so frequently, and of course love sports.
Also, basketball is my power to go forward not backward. It’s as motivating as lectures, which can encourage people to be better and never give up. I’ve been playing basketball for at least 5 years, and I’m proud enough to say that it changed me a lot. I used to be a sedentary kid until I started to play basketball. For one reason, there are many benefits to play basketball, for example, it taught me how to build teamwork and motive my teammates. Once, many teammates were so frustrated since we lost all of the games. I chose to stand out to ensure they could still be positive and play good games for our reputations.

Although our society is on the way towards less physical, I still believe a few people can bring back our physical world, where teenagers love to go out and do sports. I’m proud of being physical.

  1. that's fantastic to see you on the physical side. For some reason, I never doubted that. I would have been surprised had you said you were sedentary. I can tell by how students behave in class if they are sedentary of physical outside of class. You seem to have found a great balance between having your physical activities and also keeping up with school work that requires you to be sedentary. Enjoy your physical life now; it's pretty tough later on if you have a job that forces you to sit down for long hours (like me. feel sorry for me, eh? I have piles of marking and it's sunny outside). I sometimes wish I had chosen PE. Too bad I love English so much.
